Outstanding property

We celebrated my daughter’s wedding at Southwood this past weekend. The event was magical, the view was breathtaking. The sun was poking through some puffy clouds while they were exchanging vows, with the rays bouncing off the Catskills. Two bald eagles flew overhead during the ceremony. The entire day was well beyond our expectations.

The venue allowed us to use the entire property. Ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, fireworks and bonfire were all in different places. We took full advantage of the beautiful acreage. Our expectations for this wedding were high, and Southwood exceeded our expectations! Thank you to the entire staff for making my daughter’s dreams come true.

A WEEKEND IS NOT LONG ENOUGH

Where to start with this unreal property? For one, a weekend is not long enough. My wife and I rented the mansion, cottage, and gate house with 15 friends for her 30th birthday and are still suffering from the withdrawal following an unforgettable 48 hours at the estate. Some highlights: the property and the view are so beautiful and expansive, no picture will capture it. You must be there to understand. The houses themselves – quaint, comfortable, and wreaking of the glamour of a bygone era. Certainly fun and magical. The activities – a stunning pool, a massive bonfire, visiting the goats, admiring every inch of the property, pinching yourself that this is your actual life and you are here right now after grabbing a pinch of kale from the vegetable garden. The host – responsive, accommodating, personable, and obviously very talented given her ability to realize and maintain this magical place. Six stars. We will be back!

BREATHTAKING PROPERTY

My husband and I fell in love with Southwood in the fall and got married there the next summer. It’s a breathtaking property. I am so grateful to Dana and her rock star team for making our wedding weekend a total dream. Thank you for allowing us to have our special day at this magical place, and for looking after us and our guests to ensure the day went seamlessly. My family and I (about 15 of us) stayed on the property all weekend. On the day of the wedding, our guests were stunned by the views, despite the rain. I can’t imagine celebrating our marriage anywhere else and look forward to visiting for years to come.

unbelievably gorgeous setting

We will always feel so lucky we got to be married at Southwood. Dana and Hart anticipated needs we didn't even know we had, and kept the day running smoothly behind the scenes while my husband and I got to do nothing but enjoy being in an unbelievably gorgeous setting surrounded by everyone we love.

Our guests were blown away

My husband and I were married at Southwood Property this past month and, wow, was it amazing! The houses were so beautiful and charming. The view was absolutely unbeatable. Our guests were blown away. Throughout the whole planning process, Dana was very responsive and easy to work with – she really takes pride in her property and it definitely shows! The caretakers, Beth and Alex were extremely helpful and kind. I’d absolutely recommend this as a wedding venue! 5 stars for sure.

idyllic location

Southwood is perfect! An absolutely idyllic location and wonderful venue, and its owner Dana is a pleasure to work with and speak to. Our group never wanted to leave – the house itself is stunning in its decor and level of comforts, and the grounds offer endless opportunities to explore and relax. I highly recommend this for weddings, events or just for weekend getaways with friends!

We recently had our wedding at Southwood Estate, and wholeheartedly recommend this location for anyone looking for a wedding venue or a weekend getaway. The cottages and main house are so charming and cozy. And the property, which overlooks the Hudson River, is absolutely stunning. Not to mention that Dana and Beth went out of their way to make our weekend unforgettable. We are so happy we picked Southwood for our wedding, and can’t thank Dana and Beth enough for their hospitality.
